The moose and the worlds tree mittens

These mittens are designed by knitting guru Annemor Sundbø. She says in her book, “Norwegian gloves and mittens” the following:

In old nordic mythology is the worlds tree, Yggdrasil, an ash tree where the top of the tree is the sky and the roots grows down into the underworld. The myth says that the first man who is the ancestor to all men on earth, was created from the trunk of an ash tree. This is the tree we see on the mittens.

The moose, the deer and the reindeer are symbols for piety and religious longing, as it says in the Psalms in the Bible: “Just as the deer long for running streams, my soul longs for you my lord”
